Make A Wish Campaign 2013

18 Nov, 2013

There are only 2 weeks left until the current Manchester Evening News Wish Campaign for 2013 ends.

Please, please, please keep on collecting tokens but if you have got any tokens that you have been saving up to bring in to us, may we ask that you start bringing them to the club as soon as possible.

One volunteer is doing all the cutting and sticking so we don’t really want her to be inundated on November 30th with tokens!

Please don’t stop collecting until the very last day but please do bring your stash in to the club next week.

Many thanks for all the tokens received so far and for all the tokens we hope will be heading our way!

Kind Regards,
Dukinfield Marlins ASC

Urgent – Proposals to close Dukinfield and Denton Pools

11 Nov, 2013

Dear Members,

Tameside council has now opened a BIG CONVERSATION survey on the internet regarding the potential building of a new aquatics centre and the closure of Dukinfield and Denton pools. On the website, there are documents to read which explain the why and how, etc…

It is vital that as a user of the pool and/or as a parent/ carer of a pool user, you voice your opinion about this proposal independently and autonomously. This is only available until the 16th of December 2013 so tIme is of the essence.

Thank you for completing this survey and supporting your Club. Details on how to do so are listed below:

Go to TAMESIDE HOME PAGE
Click on “BIG CONVERSATION” (bottom left of the home screen, purple icon).
Click on “Current Consultations”
Scroll down to the section headed “Join The Neighbourhood Conversation” where you will see a sub heading further down entitled “Current Conversations”.
Click on “Aquatics centre Proposal Conversation”. There is an overview to read plus additional information entitled New Aquatics Centre Key Decision and Equality Impact Assessment.
To begin the survey, click on “Start the Aquatics Centre Proposal Conversation” and follow the instructions.

Yours in swimming

Marlins Galas – Fun and Annual

11 Nov, 2013

Dear Members,

Dukinfield Marlins is proud to announce it will host it’s Annual Fun Gala on Friday, November 29th for it’s club members who are unable to take part in the Annual Gala on the Saturday afternoon.

This gala is aimed at swimmers who are too young to be part of the Annual Gala and those who cannot yet swim a length of the pool, (25m).

Please find attached a copy of the Fun Gala entry form. Please print off, fill in and bring back to the club with the entry fee of £3:50. There will be copies of the Fun Gala entry form available from the desk if you do not have access to a printer.

PLEASE NOTE, SWIMMERS ENTER ONLY ONE CLUB GALA,

Swimmers cannot enter the Fun Gala if they are able to swim a minimum of 25m, (one length), of the pool and they will be 6 years of age by November 30th.

Swimmers who are too young or unable to swim a length of the pool, cannot enter the Annual Gala but can take part in this Fun Gala instead.

This gala will replace ALL lessons and squad training on Friday, November 29th and is open to all club members who are eligible regardless of which day you normally attend the club. If you do come to lessons on a Friday though, why not enter the Fun Gala instead for a great evening of swimming! The cost of entry is the same as a normal lesson. There will be older squad members in the water to help the entrants out and swimming aids can still be used in the Fun Gala. All the events take place in the shallow end of the pool and spectators sit on poolside to cheer the swimmers on, It’s great fun!

Please ensure you get your entry for the Fun Gala to the desk by FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 22nd at the latest.

MARLINS ANNUAL GALA – SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 30th @ 1pm

At present, we have only had 10 entries for the Annual Gala on November 30th. Out of a membership of nearly 200 swimmers, this is very disappointing. If we do not get more entries, the Annual Gala will be cancelled and there will be no trophies, etc handed out for 2013. ALL squad swimmers need to ensure they have got their entry for the gala in by NEXT SATURDAY at the latest and other interested club members who are eligible also need to get their entries in ASAP. There are copies of the form available at the desk and the form has been emailed to you all on a number of previous occasions. PLEASE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR YOUR CLUB AND GET YOUR ANNUAL GALA ENTRIES IN NOW!!!

Regards,
Dukinfield Marlins ASC

Dear Members,

This is just a quick message to let you know that Dukinfield Marlins will once again be celebrating it’s swimmers successes at it’s annual Presentation Evening to be held on Saturday, January 11th at 7:30pm. The venue is Dukinfield Masonic Hall, 62 Old Road, Dukinfield, SK16 4EN. Tickets will be available soon and a poster will be displayed soon advertising the evening and ticket prices.

Amongst the awards that are made that evening will be certificates, medals and trophies won at the club’s Annual Gala on Saturday November 30th. Entry forms have been emailed to all for this event and there are also some copies available at the desk for anyone who does not have access to a printer. You will find the entry form attached again to this message for your convenience. We hope to see as many members who qualify to enter the Annual Gala doing just that! If you attend squad training sessions then you need to get your entries in quickly! Closing date is Saturday, November 16th.

Please may we also bring your attention to the AGM that will be taking place at the Rising Moon pub next month. Details are on the noticeboard at the pool but all are welcome to the AGM and we also welcome additional offers of help both on an ad-hoc basis, such as helping to run the desk, assisting at galas, etc to roles within the committee, which we are searching for at present. Please do consider joining us on that night. This is your club so please do get involved!

Don’t forget to keep collecting the wish tokens in the Manchester Evening News. This goes all the way to Saturday, November 30th and if you haven’t had a chance to do so, please vote for us with the Lloyds Bank Community Fund as Marlins stands to gain greatly from this inclusion!

Kind Regards,
