PLEASE EMAIL YOUR PREFERENCE TO marlinsasc@btinternet.com BY FRIDAY, MAY 27th TO ALLOW THE CLUB TO ORGANISE THE NEW LESSONS. THIS EMAIL ADDRESS WILL NOT BE MONITORED AFTER 10pm ON FRIDAY, MAY 27th UNTIL AFTER THE COMPLETION OF THE STROKE CHAMPIONSHIPS ON SATURDAY, JUNE 4th AT 4:00pm.

Our membership secretary, Karen Braddock, will collate all the preferences and will pass them on to the lesson coordinator after Squad training finishes on that Friday evening.

We will also need volunteers to run the desk on a Friday evening because our current regular volunteer is unable to continue to cover the desk on a Friday evening after we move to Ashton. It is really important that we have cover on the desk from parents / carers who attend on a Friday as other volunteers are unable to take over due to other commitments.

We thank you all for your continued patience during this very difficult time for the club and it’s swimmers.

** IMPORTANT CLUB STATEMENT **

25 Mar, 2016

Due to the recent news regarding the closure of Dukinfield Pool, the club thought it best to release a statement regarding the pool, the club and the future of Dukinfield Marlins.

After a poolside meeting with someone from Active Tameside yesterday evening, it was disclosed that the pool will be closing sometime around Whitsuntide to be transformed into a leisure centre minus the pool.

Early next week, two members of the club are meeting with Active Tameside to review time slots at other local pools in Tameside for when Dukinfield Pool closes, and until such a time when the new pools are available at Hyde or Denton.

Although the situation isn’t ideal, please be assured that we will do everything in our power to keep Dukinfield Marlins going and an EGM has been called for Wednesday, after the meeting with Active Tameside. If you have any questions or concerns you wish to be discussed at this meeting, please drop us a line on Facebook, Twitter or via email.

In the meantime we ask you to continue to show us your support as Dukinfield Marlins will operate as normal, with lessons and training sessions continuing on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Proposals to close Denton, Dukinfield and Ashton pools

20 Dec, 2015

Dear Parents and Carers,

Please see below a link to the Tameside Leisure Estate Review on Tameside Council’s website which proposes the closure of the centres in Ashton, Denton and Dukinfield and to replace these three centres with one.

The closure of Dukinfield pool would have a direct and negative impact on Dukinfield Marlins swimming club, plus other clubs who currently use these three sites as it would reduce the amount of pool time available to all affected.

There is a proposal to build a new 6 lane, 25 metre pool at Hyde Leisure to reduce the impact but it is important that everyone involved with Marlins, or any of the other clubs who use these current facilities, to read the report that can be downloaded from the page the link will take you to.

The consultation period runs from now until February 11th.
